WEB SEARCH
The web was the major source we used to obtain information on wearable computers, it provided us with far ranging amounts of information. The major search engines used were MSN, Alta Vista, Yahoo and about.com. An abundance of information was found using the engines, MSN offered 7630 sites, Alta Vista 5210 and about.com 21,764.
The sites we visited were relevant to our topic, however, the information did start to become repetitive and was very much focused on the technological aspects of wearables. Whilst the information strongly promoted and supported wearables very little of it covered the negative aspects of the technology. However, through using the Web we were able to get in touch with Xybernaut a major wearable manufacturer. This site has been a particularly helpful instrument in our forecast of wearables.
Other sites that have been particularly handy in developing our understanding of wearables are the university institutions that develop them, such as MIT and Carnegie Mellon University. Overall the Web has been a useful information source even though the information could have been more detailed. Nevertheless, with such a new technology as wearables the web was the only place we could really find up to date information.
